Indian Paint Industry to cross INR 62K crore by 2017: ASSOCHAM

Paint Industry has reported unbreakable growth and is highly expected to shine in the near future. A report by ASSOCHAM on Paint Industry in India reveals that India is the 2nd largest consumer of paints in Asia. The Indian paint industry has seen a gradual shift in the preferences of people from the traditional white wash to higher quality paints like emulsions and enamel paints” said Mr. D. S. Rawat, Secretary General ASSOCHAM.

In Fiscal 2014, the industry reached INR 40,600 crores with per capita consumption increasing to over 4 kgs, from which the decorative segment contributed approximately 73% at INR 29,638 crores whereas Industrial segment contributed the remaining INR 10,962 crores, adds the paper.

Behind the rising Indian paint market was the decorative paint segment, which is expected to grow at a CAGR of more than 18% during 2014-15.

The industrial paint market is segmented into high performance coating, powder coating and coil coating, automotive coating. Similarly the decorative paint market has also been further segmented into emulsions, distemper, enamel, and cement paints.
