Prabhu did not increase passenger fares but his focus was on raising money from the banks and pension funds to fund expansion plans of the Indian Railways. Nor he announced any new trains in his maiden budget speech.

The chief themes of the Budget were in line with PM Modi’s initiatives – Swachch Bharat Mission, Digital India and Make in India.
