Significance of Holi in India

Happy Holi 2022

Every Indian knows the importance of Holi which is celebrated in the month of Phalguna as per the Hindu calendar. It is started on the evening of the Purnima which means full moon day. One of the major festivals in India, Holi is the day on which people forget about everything and enjoy life without any stress. On this day people smear each other colors called gulal and sing & dance on usually Hindi songs that are usually based on holi. This day also represents the triumph of good over evil because of the famous episode of demon king Hiranyakashyap, his Vishnu devotee son Prahlad, his sister demon Holika, and a pyre. Through this, many Indians also celebrate the end of winter and the start of the spring which is good for harvest.

Holi and food items & beverages

The best thing about this festival is the different kinds of sweets, snacks, and beverages that are usually served in it. That is why this day is a great chance for many firms who deal in these products. Even though on this day the demand for all types of sweets is quite high but nothing can beat the love of Gujiya. Besides, namkeens are always demanded during any Indian festival. During the month of Holi i.e March, the temperature is usually very high, and to deal with this people love to drink cold beverages, especially Thandai and Sharbat.

Safe and eco-friendly Holi

Safe and ecofriendly Holi means a way of celebrating this festival without causing any harm to anyone’s health and environment. For many years, people have been using colors that contain those ingredients that might cause serious health problems. Now, the time has changed as now are many shops that sell herbal colors that are made of natural ingredients. People can smear these colors on each other without any fear. Another problem in this festival is the high wastage of water. Many are becoming aware of the negative effects of water scarcity and have decided to this practice.
